pogeun kang
Pogeun Kang (b. 2000, South Korea) has a strong affinity for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, while also being drawn to the Romantic and modern repertoire, particularly composers such as Alexandre Tansman and Astor Piazzolla.
Before beginning his studies, he won first prize at the German national competition Jugend Musiziert in 2018. He studied at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree (2018–2023) and a postgraduate degree (2023–2025). Since 2025, he continues his studies in the Master of Music program at the University of Music and Theatre Munich.
He has received prizes at several important competitions, including the German Guitar Award (2023) and the Hannabach International Guitar Competition (2024),
and was a finalist at the International Guitar Competition in Koblenz in 2021. He has also taken part in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Zoran Dukic, Pavel Steidl, Carlo Marchione, Aniello Desiderio, Andrea De Vitis, and Pablo
Márquez.
Alongside his work as a guitarist, Pogeun has a strong interest in piano repertoire and enjoys attending concerts by leading pianists. Outside of music, he is passionate about photography and enjoys good food—from traditional Korean cuisine to sushi, champagne, and fine red wine.
